This arctic fox was foraging for prey on the outskirts of Churchill, MB in early November. I watched it quietly for some time, hunting intently for a lemming. The sun was getting ready to set, and the overcast sky meant the amount of light was rapidly diminishing. Many times, this fox came quite close to me, unafraid and unnoticing, and well within the minimum focusing distance of my lens. Here the arctic fox can be seen pausing to investigate a small frozen stick poking through the snow. Fortunately the fox didn't move rapidly and I was able to capture an extremely sharp image of this beautiful animals' inquistive eye.
